Traditional Incense - Gum Mastic Resin - Bulk

The first known gum!  When chewed, the resin softens and becomes a bright white and opaque gum. The flavor is bitter at first, but after some chewing, it releases a refreshing flavor similar to pine or cedar with a light hint of lemon.  (Our resin is too hard to chew, so please don't chew it!)

Mastic creates a light, balsamlike, earthy fresh, lemony, gentle fragrance when burned. 

It is known for its cleansing, clarifying and mentally refreshing abilities.  In ancient Egypt, mastic was also called "the fragrance that pleases the Gods". 

The mastic tree (Pistacia lentiscus) tree produces a resin which 'leaks' out from the bark solidifying into “tears”.  It is available in various grades, which depends on the time of harvesting and what part of the tree it is taken from.  The resin is then hand-sorted for quality.
